Also the hard media.Īlso you have access to every brush ever delivered with Corel Painter. Opacity and Shape are really settings you want to play with. You can also modify the resaturation and opacity to slow down the buildup of color.Īs DugganSC mentions there are a ton of settings. this is where the pressure curve makes a difference, it allows you to do it gradually. the more you go over it the darker it gets. Change that to Buildup.ĭon't start with black as your color. You should actually do this at the global level as well for your drawing stylus, but for some brushes you really need to do it at the brush level. Go into Brush Calibration in Advanced properties and calibrate the pressure. Also useful (but not free) is Duane Wooter's Corel Painter 2018 Brush Set and Brush Tutorials, although his focus is on Thick Paint and replicating Bob Ross's style.įirst, you really need to tweak the pressure curves. Almost anything in Corel's premium brushes can be created through the interface (there are a handful of effects that may require tweaking the brush files manually and/or using plugins, and some of them are more about their custom dabs). I highly recommend Roxanne Lapa's Brush Building Tutorials if you're interested in tweaking brushes. If you specifically want to vary size and color, you're looking at the Brush Control / Brush Shape / Size panel and the Brush Control / Brush Media / Color Variability and Brush Control / Brush Media / Color Expression, both of which should be available in the General Brush Controls by default. In my experience, that works fairly well unless you don't have tilt in your pen (which I know some of the Huion don't). Shape is modified by Tilt and Bearing due to selecting a Hard Media dab profile. For the Real 2B pencil, Pressure affects the Opacity. :) Somewhat unfortunately, there is no central place to check what pen parameters correlate to which setting, or to set what the curve is.
